The house is right in the middle of the desert and we have been warned to be on the look out for Tarantulas, Rattlers and Scorpions!!! Two pictures below show the view from our front door.
Last night we attended a BBQ at Dave Johnsons along with quite a few other guests. The Kiwis were in full song and we had a trial boat race which the Internationals managed to win. We left our cameras in the van so, sorry, no pics of the night.
Today we decided to take a break from flying and had a leisurely start to the day. We went to TIMPA and pressed the flesh with some familiar faces. The boys completed their Registration and we attended the Judges / Pilot briefing. The pilot draw for the flying order on day one for each class was conducted, Mark is up sixth and Chris is thirteenth. We have claimed our place in the Pitts with the Aussie flags flying. An early start tomorrow with the first flight to be ready by 0730. We are glad to be 10 minutes from the field.
The field is taking shape with flags, tents, portable toilets, signage and car parking tape. I can't wait for the Vendor tents to open up, thank god the Aussie dollar is looking good! I am sure there is a ton of stuff I "need".
The boys have completed plenty of practice and burnt a lot of gas. All the preperation is done, the real business starts tomorrow.
